Morning All,

I've not had my car all that long and i only drive it 8 miles each day, to work and back so i hadn't noticed this problem unitl a long drive over the weekend.

The heater only seems to blow cool / slightly worm air from the air vents in the dash, however footwell and screen blowers all blow lovely hot air.

Is this a sign of the final stage ristor resistor aka hedgehog going?

At first i was a little worrid as i thought i wasn't getting any hot air, which could have been a sign of head gasket gone.

Every thing else is normal, engine temp is fine and car runs lovely.

Any ideas?

Cheers

Ryan

Where is your air mix control set? Thats the dial on the central vents that geos from hot to cold and controls the blend of outside and heated air to the face level vents. Most people leave it on the middle setting as they do not fully understand what it does - this will give you a cooler temperature...

Sorry i should have said. The car has climate control. No matter how high i set the temp the dash verts only blow slightly warm air, but footwell and screen blowers adjust heat accordingly.

Directly to the side of the vents, is a thumb wheel. Where is this set?

You mean the vent open / Close wheel? This is set to open.

It is some time since I owned an E46 but the wheel does not simply open / close the vent. I thought the wheel graduated the level of heat.

I've sorted it. I hadn't noticed the thumb wheel in the middle on the two face vents, this was set to cold.

Thank you all for your input. I was just being a bit blind.

Cheers

hehe

Isn't it annoying BTW that the dial doesn't light up?
