Runflat tyre/sensor question..
Discussion
The 1 series got a puncture today and was driven quite a way with essentially a flat tyre, so had to come the rest of the way home on the back of a rescue truck. The tyre is no doubt beyond repair now (IE, buggered). As luck would have it, I have an identical spare wheel and tyre in the garage which i'll put on the car tomorrow.
However, will the cars electronics recognise the replacement wheel/tyre and work normally right away? Or does something have to be coded for them to work together properly?
Cheers for any input

Thanks chaps..
Once the wheel was changed, sure enough, the car didn't recognise it. So still reported a flat. However, the car was due a service anyway, so I just let BMW reset it themselves. its all good now
Btw.. The old runflat tyre split completely on the inside edge!
P,
Out of interest, how far did you run on it, what overall mileage had it completed and what was the damage that caused the puncture?Once the wheel was changed, sure enough, the car didn't recognise it. Another 'out of interest'.. Would BMW tell you what they did to reset it? Presumably it's something that should be pretty common knowledge (and do-able from the driver's seat) as the likes of Kwik Fit etc must be able to reset it when they change a flat RFT...?
In the 1 Series you can reset it yourself, from the driver's seat.On the indicator stalk there are push buttons on the end, in the vertical plane is button 1, in the horizontal plane is button 2.
1. Start engine.
2. Lightly push button 1 until INIT appears in the display.
3. Press button 2 to confirm.
4. Press button 2 and hold pressed for 5 seconds. INIT is shown as ticked.
5. Drive off to allow initialisation to complete.
