E92 Upgrading Options

I've had my 330i Auto now 6 months and, as usual with my cars, my fingers are itching to make a few mods. I want to keep the engine characteristics, i.e. smooooth power delivery etc, but the handling could better. I am thinking about changing the run-flats and have read the many threads so this is one option, but do any of you have any other advice, experience etc.

I have the 17 x 8J wheels with run flats and they are very hard work on anythink but smooth surfaces. I am thinking of changing to non run flats.

Can I put the 255/35/17 on my rear 8J wheels and which tyres would you all recomend.
