Hi folks, lookin for springs for the Z4M. I see Eibach, H&R and KW do springs...Has anyone had experience with them?

I was under the impression that both H&R and KW's use Eibac springs in there coilovers! Certainly are on my Clio V6!

What do you want from the springs? Just lowering with the same ride quality, harder ride, softer ride, progressive ride, adjustability, slammed look?

Andy Sixspeed has a lovely Z4MC 'CSL' with KW V3 coilovers - plus lots of other gorgeous bits.

I've got KW V3's on the V6 and they are EPIC!!

For the BM i just want it a touch lower but not compromising the ride at all. The eibachs i had on my old renaultsport 172 were fantastic! Factory feel and the desired look.

Love andy's car! smile

Mine's got Eibach springs. Looks great and the ride is the same (hard!). Only problem i get is that the nose is now so low that i have to be careful when parking up to a kerb nose first or with bigger speed humps. Worth it for the looks though.

The ride must be unbareable after fitting springs can anyone confirm?

Apparently not. Seems Eibach know more about decent ride qulaity than BMW do. Possibly.

I disagree had Eibachs on previous cars and it wasn't much worse but wasn't as comfortable. Z4s almost too bumpy on A roads already.

I have H&R lowering springs on mine. Ride is much improved over std as far as I'm concerned. They seem a very progressve spring.

I think they lowered the car by around 25mm all round. I run 19's on mine and the ride is still very comfortable.

I used to own the 2003 Z4 AC Schnitzer 3.0SE Motorshow car. When I bought it the car was fitted with 235/35 x 19 all round & handled beautifully. Then I put 265/30 x 19 on the rear & the car became a nightmare. Tramlined everywhere.

19" wheels may look great but the BMW engineers designed this (extremely) high performance car for 18" wheels - for a reason. Run anything else & you invalidate your insurance - & possibly your life. De-limited, this is a 175+mph car with little forgiveness above 140. Mess with the design at your peril - but think of other innocent road users...

I would love to believe you but this comment has made me doubt your sincerity.

"the ride is still very comfortable", are you sure you have a Z4M?? wink

Mike, I'm going to quote this for posterity.

That comment is quite the most ridiculous thing I have heard in a long time and demonstrates to all the regulars on here that you in fact know very little about what you speak.

Thus far, your comments have generally been quite derogatory to others for no apparent reason, but the above not only makes you look overtly aggressive, but foolish too.

We are not a stupid lot - we work hard and play hard, so please do not treat us like idiots.

I wouldnt get out of my drive if the car was any lower. The front apron is a couple of mm above the tarmac when I back out.

BMW engineers also worked to a corporate budget that befalls all but the smallest car manufacturers. IMHO the 18s not only look too plain for an M car, they also come with the worst standard tyre for a performance car ever (perhaps).

The lowered car with 19s feels a little more agressive with bumpy ride that's not noticeably worse than the rubbish standard ride. You only have to look at the number of manufacturer and model specific forms on PH to see that car enthusiasts can find the blatant cost cutting and then improve most sports cars with easy modifications.

It's all subjective though and some like the standard look and feel. That's beauty, each to their own.

Me, i'll be adding an H&S exhaust and having my CSLs redone in gunmetal in the next few weeks as well as a set of Vredstein Ultras.(for me a good mix of performance, cost and looks when compared to others.).

Enjoy.

Beautiful car, stance does look good and I love the wheels. My Z4MC is 'bumpy' on B roads and I would rather improve the ride at some point with a better suspension. I can't believe the ride can't be improved with the handling - Porsche manage it with the Cayman. Having said that.... I love the fact that you have to DRIVE the Z4M but it could do with something to make the ride controlled but more supple.

Having had the care for two months now, every drive is still an event!! woohoo

Probably the ideal solution would be to change the tires to PS2 or F1’s, get a lighter set of 18's alloys and install KW v3. I’m sure that would sort the bumpy ride out, but I'd rather have a test drive in someone else's car that’s gone down a similar route to make sure it would actually make a noticeable difference before I blew 4K.
