Can anyone give me a step by step guide to refitting my chim's Meta alarm unit without blowing it up / grazing my knuckles / waking the neighbours etc.

I had some work done last week which required disconnecting the battery. Unfortunatley the mechanic had forgotten about my mentioning the broken alarm key fob (awaiting new one in the post). When the battery was reconnected, the alarm obviously had a good scream, so the only way round this appeared to be the removal of the alarm unit.

I believe I just need to prop up the dash top, plug a couple of plugs back into the unit, and screw the dash top back in place, but wouldn't be at all surprised if there was more to it than this - like disconnecting the battery (yes, I even need advice on this!) or something even more tricky...

Please help!

I do not remember disconnecting battery.

Remove dash, 3 connection points, 2 passenger side above the pocket.

Prop and pack open with cloth to avoid damaging leather trim.

Plug in unit and be ready to reset alarm with new fob.

Replace dash.

Wrap a blanket or tape a cushion over the alarm siren to muffle it and keep the neighbours happy when it goes off as you reconnect. Don't forget to remove the cushion/blanket before you start her up...

Why not unplug the siren? That should quieten it! When my siren was going off on it's own I disconnected it and put it in a (plastic) bucket wrapped up. When the alarm chap came to check it out he just dropped the panel above the "glove compartment/bag" (2 screws) and you could get to the alarm unit connections from here. No dash-propping.
