Cleaning / replenishing the filter is easy-peasey....remove the filter, place it in a suitable container and clean it with some solvent (White Spirit is ok), drain it off and let dry. Go to a decent motorcycle shop and buy a can of foam filter oil - cost approx £3. Put the filter in a carrier bag (make sure it's one without holes in it!), pour some of the oil in (not too much) and squeze the filter to soak up the oil. Let surplus oil drain out for a few hours before refitting. I'm not sure of the cost of a new filter, but I bet it's more than a can of filter oil!

Cheers Wolosp for that info, certainly seems to be the time of year for mucky air filters. One Tesco carrier bag and filter oil coming up ..... shake rattle and roll .....
