OK, I had a sleepless night the day before dropped car off to be serviced by main dealer. The damage was £500 which i though was ok, but it is a low miler and newish. Summary, I have had the car for around 6 months and not a thing has gone wrong except intermittent speedo light. My friends, who have had a cerbie and a Griff both didnt get any change out of £4,000 for last service, with no obvious prior defects to speak of. Scary. Any else had any service nightmares?
Mine is the same age as yours and in for its 1st service (while I have had it) at the moment. Dropped it off last Monday and got a call on Friday saying crank shaft seal leaking .......its only a nightmare if the warranty doesn't apply - I find out on Saturday when I am assuming it will be ready. The warranty guys were OK when the wheel bearing went so I hope it will be covered.
Also the alarm is knackered for the second time in 12 months and needs renewing again. Where do TVR get these alarms? I have never known such a crap alarm system in any other car.
Only 12,000 miles on the clock - these things shouldnt be happening.

I don't think much of the Meta system either - why not cut your losses and replace it with a Clifford etc?
yes, big sigh of relief. Nothing gets me more paranoid than these phantom faults from main dealers. So, apart from new scratch appearing near bonnet, i was pleasantly surprised at MV chessington, they even gave me ten per cent discount! (cos its the best looking griff in they have ever seen... honestly)
Would like to re-iterate the comments on the Meta alarm systems.
On my first Griff the alarm had to be replaced under warranty (twice !!!) and on my recently acquired 97 Griff the alarm went beserk at the first drip of rain -
Had a new Cat 1 system called AUTOWATCH installed by Richmond Car Radios - they are experienced with Tivs and did a very good job.
Apparently they rate the Autowatch product more highly than Clifford - more reliable (no problems with any after fitting hundreds of them) and they include internal movement sensors so better than the original Meta system.
Living in London I felt it was well worth spending the money on the upgrade to keep the yoofs away.
Original Meta system also now out of production and very dated - hoping the new product will also prove less of a drain on the battery.

My 92 Grif has a Gemini alarm and I've never had a problem it. You can leave the roof off without the alarm going off every 5 miniutes even if its windy, yet it will go off as soon as you stick your hand into the cabin. I'm never sure how they really work (air pressure changes?) but the good thing about mine is it goes off as soon as you open the garage door. Good deterrant as my garage is not next to the house.
I found the Gemini to work in an instant, reliably and from long range. By contrast the Meta took several seconds of prodding and poking from various angles and usually only worked from less than 1m. Then it died altogether. Can only assume that it was a higher security product (when it worked, that is).
Like the bit about being happy with a main dealer service because it only came away with one extra scrtach!!!
