Intake Trumpets
Discussion
Just doing a little 'tweak' as recommended by an F1 engineer friend of mine which involved splitting the plenum. Only to find that 7 of the trumpets were rolling around in the casing which explains the reluctance to rev 5000+ & recent poor rolling road test. Anyone else come across the same/ recommend an adhesive to stop tumpets going AWOL again?

Won't splitting the pleanum allow air to leak in? Rich...

, you still haven't said what the little mod that was also done .
I would be pleasantly surprised if £20 could make a noticeable difference, pray tell, I'm on the way to garage as we speak .

You can cut the trumpets down for a bit more "top end" engines like 4.3 and 4.5 would respond to this.
This would be the first/ most obvious tweek. not going to make a huge difference though.

Cheers Tim......I was thinking along the lines of putting a gasket thingy in to raise the plenum cover above the trumpets a bit more or somesuch.
I would imagine cutting the trumpets is fraught I assume it is done to get a bit more 'headroom' for them to draw the air down . Isn't there a theoretical ratio between bore of the trumpets and 'headroom' :confusd:.
I also assume that all this is based on sub 5ltr cars only, as they actually have trumpets and not sections of exhaust as fitted to the 5ltr , which really would benefit from 'proper' flared trumpets, ali or carbon, in the first instance.
