Pretty damn rainy last night on the way home and my Cerb was not the happiest of bunnies on the M1.

I was getting flat spots and misfires when it was really chucking it down, I'm assuming this was because I have replaced the air filters with the cone ones in the engine bay. Water was probably getting onto the leads from the two whacking great holes in the front of the car, where the tubing used to be.
Suffice to say, as soon as the weather let up a bit, the car was back to normal.

Any solutions that won't mean fabricating a new air ducting system or going back to the TVR limp sponge.

Trooper,
Sorry to hijack your thread but what is the induction noise like with the cone filters on. Is it a lot louder than standard. Just thinking about getting some!

Half a can of WD40 sprayed over the leads/dizzy cap should do it....

Not much more induction noise at all to my ears (over the sports exhaust). However, the exhaust note is a little bit louder (but deeper and crisper).

The engine noise certainly took on a raspier turn of phrase for my car.

It's all rather academic now though, as my clutch slave cylinder finally gave out today, so back it's gone to Topcats!

It's amazing how slow people are to start off from traffic lights when all you have is one gear and you can only stop the car by stalling it...

Sorry to hear that Neil. I thought I was having it rough! Make sure they check the state of the clutch when it's done, mine was well worn when my slave went so I had it replaced at the same time to save on labour.

Will do

I'm taking comfort in the fact that once this final piece of work has been done, then the car should be completely sorted!

For what its worth, you have my every sympathy - I'm on my 3rd clutch and 2nd slave cylinder in 2 years. I used to dread that feeling of suddenly finding you have to press the clutch pedal further and further until you're mashing it into the carpet and cursing every time you have to slow down - hoping for that long straight that always seems to get clogged up with 'Sunday Drivers' who send you lurching to a reluctant halt inches from the bumper in front and having to start it in gear while everybody around is thinking "that'll larn 'im, the flash git!"

Sorry, I was going into one there! On the upside I have finally got my car in tip-top condition and its all courtesy of Topcats. Thanks to them I feel confident about driving around every day - firstly, because I know its been fixed properly and secondly, because I know if it does go wrong they'll mend it quickly and at a reasonable price.
