I've bought one of these http://www.powertrainer.co.uk/ to do this challenge http://twentypullups.com/ for my NY resolution. (looking forward to having some 13yr old wannabe-navyseal-septic criticise my technique on youtube hehe)

What have you got planned?

I wrote myself a list yesterday:

1) One-arm pullup
2) Planche pressup
3) Muscle-up
4) Bench 3 plates (140kg)
5) 100 burpess in under 6 minutes
6) Manage a kip-up without banging my head/bum/elbow etc
7) Drop bodyfat below 10%
8) Run Men's Health Survival of the Fittest in under 1hr 15 min

Easy peasy!

OMG at those times. I average around 27m for 5k. I can't even begin to imagine 10k in sub-30m. Are you professional? You sound it!

Yep agreed - thats part of the deal - has to be full lock-armed pull ups. None of this 1/4,1/2 movement ste that you see daily in the gym hehe

How quick a time are we talking here? I saw the mile race on TV and am tempted, reckon I could do it in 30 mins without too much bother and am very tempted to give it a go. So my 10k time would be around 3.5-4 hours, would this be ridiculously slow?

rofl Professional implies paid - fat chance of that sadly. I have organised my work and life so that I can train effectively twice a day though, all at personal cost/sacrifice with some support from my club and local gym. Long term target (well, as "long term" as it can be at age 33 and after 22 years racing so far) is still to gain a GB vest (and age-group vests don't count).

Anyway, off topic. Back to everyone's resolutions.

Bench 140 kg
Sqaut 160 kg
Dead 185 kg

Be able to do pull ups without noticing, same with dips, 22 y/o 90-95kg depending on day etc.

Not got the cardio ones sorted yet, but have a 110 mile race to do in june, on the bike.

ETA my dad ran a 10k recently in Richmond, and the guy that won was between 40-50 an his time was pretty much on 30 mins!

Nope, I used to train long distance outdoor swimmers. And that would be a very good time. You can go a bit quicker indoors because the cold water wouldn't be slowing you down over time. You'll have to put in a fair bit of training for it though, and other cardio work (running/cross training) will help improve your times.

Yes and yes! smile

Does exactly what it says on the tin - works using a cantilever movement so doesnt stress the doorframe and I can put it up / take it down in seconds (plus the missus is happy as there is no holes etc). The idea is to leave it up so that I can do several throughout the day/night. Putting a chair underneath also helps when doing negatives.

Much much better than those bars that fit in between the door itself. I'm very happy with it.

My resolutions this year include quitting smoking(which after all the years i have been slowly poisoning myself wont be easy), get fit(yeah right*cough cough*) and put on some muscle, mainly because i am way too much of a lightweight at the minute, other than that eat healthier, drink a lot less, and get more exercise other than the tv remote
