This famous iconic race car is now up for sale, just spotted it on e-bay, its a shame the current owner could not finish the car, but lets hope whoever buys it can return it to its former racing glory.

Anybody with deep pockets out there ?

120k is just Daft - even if in one piece it ain't worth that.

Sorry to rain on the owners parade (I know a PHer as per that long thread), but come on.............!

I had a feeling this would always happen.

It does seem expensive,,, but the marsh plant built astons are probally up around that figure.

I did hear a rumour that over 100k was spent developing freemans aston, and malcs old car spanked that regulary.

I guess i like the jag because the malc/rob beere team were always the underdog in the series,
they used to turn up to meeting's with the car on an old trailor, being pulled by some old yank
tank.

This was in total contrast to the marsh plant lot who had all the latest gear, and dont forget employed a pro driver, nothing wrong with that of course,it was just nice to see malc/rob take the club racing route and win.

Is the engine a Group C TWR-spec. motor? Wouldn't a decent V12 XJR9 be heading towards £1 million? In which case the engine must be worth a decent figure in itself. I'm only a spectator, but I'd imagine this is going to be a nostalgic purchase for someone as much as being for pure driving pleasure. Also, what would it be eligible to race in these days with the demise of Super GT?

I may be wrong, but i think the engine is based on a std v12, but all the internals are remade by rob beere, (clever chap )

this is going to get boring REAL FAST.

For anyone that was here a year back discussing this car.

When these things get out of the hands of the people that had the love to build and prep them when actively raced they normally just get moved about.

A bit like the people that keep passing in the TVR Speed 12 - Who cares........

Heritage GT series, JEC Powered By and one or two others maybe.

We used to enjoy the company of this car on the intermarque grid - such a weapon, and those Etype / Aston duals (with occasional Richard Chamberlin 935 banter) were always a joy to watch.

I'm hoping that it wasn't the Donnington accident that was the demise of this car - I was watching with horror as the 935 disintegrated, but I'm guessing it may not be since my memory says that was porsche vs aston (and the Porsche definately lost that one!)

I'm now off to find the other thread, this one has brought back decent memories of the AMOC series, esp. the Group C / historic F1 invitation round at a very sunny Donny - I think I still have tinnitus from that F1 start in the grandstands =) =)

I remember watching this when I was young, my dad was in the intermarque with his porsche turbo.
I too remember the group c support race, and when win percy turned up with an xj220. always supported richards 935, bit of a porsche fan here.
can anyone else remember andy shepards black AC, don't know what type it was but looked amazing. and gerry marshall in the v8 aston.

good times

The car is worth what someone is willing to pay.

That makes the Belmont worth 75-90K.

Mind you, it's rolling shell was £87K in 1990, and cost about £110K to put on the track.

I best send an invoice to Geoffrey then as Dad never got paid a penny by Geoffrey, so not really a pro driver!! Also, all development was pretty much done in-house, so not really latest gear - the four advantages Geoffrey had was time, money preperation and dedication, oh and of course Gerry Marshall - lol!!

I think Peter has started high on the price but he is open to offers so good luck to him.
I like the Mod-sports E-Type that's his too:- http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/HISTORIC-RACING-MODSPORTS-JA...

This has come up for sale again on E-bay, no price given just offers considered, I am not sure weather or not it ever saw track action once it was rebuilt.

Need to go check my lottery numbers now....

I saw it do something very similar at mallory in the 1990's where it chased down a very quick Darrian T90 through all the pack to win.. A fantastic car when on song..
