Munich 12-16th September

I was planning to go to Munich mid-September with SWIMBO (missing the Oktoberfest unfortunately due to work) but it seems that everywhere is entirely booked up - or places on par with a Travelodge are charging £200/night because they can!

Is there anywhere else to stay that isn't 'pisstake priced' at this time of year, or should I just avoid Munich altogether.

I don't mind travelling into the city from another town/city within commuting distance, but I've never been to that part of Germany before and I don't speak any German other than; yah, nein, dankerschen, das ist gut and so on.

You're only just missing Oktoberfest so that probably explains the pricing!

Well worth going though, great city with lots to see/do, especially if you've any interest in WW2 history.

Just pick a different week...
