Thanks Gents, bith look lovely.
Just to add, the Club Lounge, served alcoholic drinks all day, premium brands of beer, spirits and wine, moving to cocktails and champagne (Verve I think) from 6pm.It was rather relaxing sitting at the window watching the word go by, drink champagne and eating nibbles.
Btw, eat in Felix, and have a drink at the bar, and go to the rest room (the Wagyu steak was the best I have ever had)

We have 3 nights in Hong Kong soon and wondered if anyone had any recommendations for a nice, well placed hotel.
Cheers.

Practically lived there every weekend for two years, whilst working in Southern China.
Still the holder of the best steak I've ever eaten, which is a shame since they've since turned the American Steakhouse into a Chinese/Italian fusion restaurant.

We had a suite at the Peninsula earlier this year. Make sure you get harbourside though and have cocktails in the lounge at the top. Fabulous. Oh and you can use one of their fleet of Phantoms too. Great for about 10 minutes only. We prefer stayng on the Kowloon side than the City side, great night markets, the Mandarin Oriental is nice but I don't think it is as nice as the Peninsula.. Also recommend the Sheraton which is right next door to the Peninsula. We had a couple of nights there too. They also have a nice bar overlooking the Harbour. There was a huge amount of construction going on the City side around the harbour area which made it pretty horrid (right by the Mandarin - about 5 lanes of road building) when we were there a few months ago.
I can recommend the Harbour Grand on Kowloon side

Great location, excellent roof top pool, restaurants etc plus a shuttle bus service every 30 minutes (10 minute journey time) to The Peninsular which is a 5 minute walk to the Star Ferry terminal which takes you across to HK island.

just come back from HK, stopped over for 2 nights on the way back from 3 weeks in NZ (school rugby tour)stayed at the gold coast hotel on the gold coast, about 25 mins outside the city, very nice rooms, own beach outside free form pool, fantastic buffet breakfast and dinner buffet to die for
shuttle bus costs £2.50 each way to city of you can grab a cab for about £15
would def go back
have fun, and dont pay too much for the "copy" watches

We stayed there in an harbourview room about 6 months ago. The views from the room were pretty good and swimming in the pool whilst looking at the views was great.www.harbourgrand.com

Only drawback is it's a bit far out we tried walking back along the harbour side to it but failed. It's a shame there's not a more convenient method of transport to get there - the nearby ferry station closes early in the evening.
