Hi,
i think soemone may have hacked into my yahoo accoutn via secret questiosn etc and deleted soem emails.
I have contacted yahoo but they are very slow to respond.
Am i likely to be abel to find out who did this?
Do they have logs that they can use to help me?

Can i contact anyone else to help me?

Thanks.

Never going to find out without the help of Yahoo.
Can you check if they sent any e-mails through your account?

PS: Get a spell checker, this is PH, correct spelling matters.

I had this a couple of weeks ago with my Hotmail account, the buggers then went on to get me eBay ID and password sent to my e-mail and then listed a load of flat screen tvs. Eventually regained control of both accounts through Microsoft and eBay, but it was a royal pain in the ass.

I put it down to my having a rather weak password on my Hotmail (just a word that appears in the Oxford English Dictionary, no numbers or funny algorithms), so it was inevitable that someone could evetually crack it. Now changed with something much more complex.

There is nothing in the sent email folder.
So i can't see anything.

Will yahoo have deletion logs and ip address historys?

It is not the first time this has happened so i want to catch the bugger.
Will yahoo be helpful?

My experiences with internet companies in the past has not always been great for this sort of thing.

Thanks.

Sorry for spelling!

Yahoo won't care in the slightest, i'm afraid...

Have you changed all your passwords and secret questions?
Although I'd be surprised if they hacked your account just to delete a few emails.

rule of thumb.

Have a proper email account, for friends and family, any site that contains personal stuff, banking etc.

Have another one at least disposable account with, Google Mail, or MSN or Yahoo etc.

Use that for any sign up to any internet site you're not sure about, or use a persona with eg my rudecherub handle.

Be prepared to burn that email if it gets hammered by spam or hacked.
