As above really, am going in October (late) for 9 days. Have never been before, so what are the must see sights. We'll (Me and OH) have a car for the whole time I'm there too so nice roads are welcome too.

Oh and if anyone has found lovely secluded unspolied parts of Portugal that they don't want to post on here, feel free to PM me.

Also what disappointed you/wasn't worth going to?

Thanks

ETA: Places outside the Algarve, eg. Western Spain welcome too.

Go down to Sagres in the south-westerly corner. Pretty much the most south-westerly point in Europe, and you can climb down the rocks and get to within about a metre of the water. To the south you have the Mediterranean, and to the west you have the Atlantic!

Then take the N120 up to Aljezur where you can stop for lunch, before continuing east on the N267 to Monchique (the highest point of the Algarve). From there, take the N266 back down to wherever you are staying.

You should be able to do that in a day, depending on your start/end point.

Great advice. I did this in the opposite direction, from Villamoura area to Silves, Monchique, Aljezur then Sagres and back via the (empty) IC4 highway. Fantastic driving roads all of them. It can be done in a day no sweat. Between Aljezur and Sagres there is a little road at Carrapatiera that takes you to the coast where you'll find the most stunning beach you'll ever see. The coastline is spectacular, it's much like the west of Ireland but with heat and more of it.

Have fun.

I recently got back from Sao Bras, some good roads round there. Nice boats and accompanying supercars at the Marina in Vilamura (sp)

Think you will find that the Pacific is actually the Atlantic unless its been moved
