Hi,

I'm hitting the 3-0 milestone next year and my girlfriend has (very kindly) offered to treat me to a vintage watch.

I think a birth year Sub is in order but as this is a pretty significant investment I would like suggestions on who to talk to, are Subs of this vintage readily available or will it take a few months to find a decent one ?

In terms of price, I believe 4k will easily secure me one, or am I way off the mark ?

Thanks in advance,

Chris

Firstly, great choice. Mike Wood (The Old Watch Shop) is well respected in vintage Rolex circles and worth contacting/looking at his website. Vintage Rolex is a bit of a minefield with all sorts of little details such as whether the watch has original dial and hands, does it have the right bracelet, end pieces etc...and having the box and papers ramps up the price.

I would have thought that your £4k should get you a nice 5513 (non date).

Don't rush, have a good hunt around and get the watch that works for you.

£4k will definitely get you a nice 5513 as mentioned.
It would probably get a 5512 (although that would take a lot more searching!) which is the COSC-dialled version of the 5513. smile
As mentioned, it's a minefield so well worth speaking to someone like Mike!

Good luck, I love my early 70s Submariner! thumbup
