Bill bryson - the life and times of the thunderbolt kid, his account of growing up in sixties America, absolutely brilliant and one of the few books I can re read time after time.

David Niven's is superb- the moon's a balloon. I also recently enjoyed Roger Moore's- My word is my Bond (see what he did there).

For me though, the daddy of all autobiographies is Ranulph Fiennes- Mad, Bad & Dangerous to Know.

Slash from Guns N Roses.
A great read, if you like that sort of thing.

Why autobiographies?

How about normal biographies? Just pick a name from history and away you go.

Most autobiographies are by movie stars etc.

If you must have an autobiography you could do a lot worse than 'Dear Me' bt Peter Ustinov.

Not strictly an autobiography but Inspired by Steve Redgrave is an interesting read.
