The first one:

Do you have to have a cooker hood to meet building regs?

The second:

Who supplies handleless (sp) kitchens? I know magnet do but only in two colours. Do any of the other warehouses?

To my detriment I cn't answer the first one but from a personal point of view I would want a hood/extract system.

Second Q, for the cupboard doors all you need are the some 'push spring clips' and a rebated edge to the door. Ikea do them as do the larger B&Q's. For drawers I assume the sliders have a similar release built into them.

Howdens might be worth a gander.

I expect Ikea will have all the hardware somewhere in store.

The hood would have to be installed to meet building regs as kitchens are special areas.

If the building regs folk are involved (i.e. it's in a new extension etc) then they will want some extraction for the room. Doesn't however need to be a cooker hood, can be a wall extractor vent thing - least that is as I understand it as that is what we are doing at the mo.

Thanks for the answers so far.

The extractor is interesting. The ceiling will slope and I can't see how a cooker hood can look good against the angles. A pop up extractor hood is too expensive.

As for handle-less I was thinking these:

where an aluminium strip is added to allow finger room.

As an alternative I could use an Ikea kitchen clad in these, sized to allow for finger room.

Cooker hood is one of the things in the kitchen that you really shouldn't skimp on. Old one was awful. Spenty decent money on a pop-out twin fan AEG and had it ducted externally. Makes one hell of a difference.

I looked at this thread with interest. Never had a cooker hood, never wanted one, never needed one. Do you chaps burn everything you cook? Serious question - what's it for?

Sensibly, for extracting cooking smells/steam. But they can also look damn sexy and hold one's halogen posing lights most excellently biggrin

I can't cook. But my cooker hood cost £620. Because it looks great and the ickle lights fade up and fade down when you press the svelte thingy that goes beep in a sublime manner.

Siemens iQ 500 owner here who can burn water.

Extraction Matters

I have the matching integrated wine cooler. When you touch the handle, the light slowly fades up cloud9

Oh, and the warming drawer too. Makes your pants and socks ever so toasty on a cold morning.

I've just ordered a Wickes Caledonia kitchen without handles:

Siemens
That's the blighter. £620 for a fan, a bit of bent aluminium and a sheet of glass. But we buy it because the beepy buttons are connected to the fan by - the sheet of glass. No wires.

How did they lose the war?

Which is a nice kitchen, but I need a couple of bespoke doors and a wall of bright colour.
