A pit will stop the "fire walk" found when piling things up. We start with the driest first, along with some wood, then once that is going, more pallets and your green, it will smoke like a bh, an if burning near fences/sheds/decking for whatever reason, keep the hose handy.

I need to burn some (a lot) of green garden waste.

Should I dig a pit or just pile it up and set fire to it? Its reasonably dry, but not completely. Will I need (and indeed should I use) some sort of accelerant?

It sounds like a dead easy thing to do, but I dont want to make some sort of raging inferno!

Hints and tips welcomed smile
Actually scratch that, just called the local council and found out if I burn anything theyll frog march me to gaol frown

I compost lots and lots and fill my 150 litre 'green' bin every two weeks and ive still got green garden waste coming out of every orifice!

Whoa back there. Are bonfires banned now? I know black smoke is not allowed. But I thought it was ok to burn old trees and plants etc!

Ply them with beer and weed, then shag them like nothing they've ever experienced before.

Bring it all to my house and throw it over the fence - release it back to nature.

I'm sure that field/wood behind my house is getting higher.
