Getting out of the Trash Can

Hi, wot the title says really.

I've managed to click and drag the entire "downloads" folder into the Trash on my Mac Mini instead of the item I wanted to trash, and now I can't get the downloads folder back on the bottom toolbar.

Any suggestions for the totally pooter illiterate on how to get the folder from the can?

Have you restored the folder from the trash? If not, do that first by opening a Finder window and locating your home folder. It will have other similar folders in it such as Documents, Music, Pictures etc.

Then drag the item out of the trash and into the Finder window. Once it's back in Finder you can drag the downloads folder back over your dock, hovering over it until the other icons have moved aside so you can drop it on.
