Ok, after the whole 'throwing the 5d into the sea' fiasco.. My insurance company are giving me 2k. So I can afford a new 5dmk2 (decided to stick with the same body) but can't afford another 24-105mm, but don't really want one anywho..

So, I would like a wide angle lens for a full frame sensor(min 16mm.) Would love a 17-40L however don't even think I could stretch to that but I am aware some of the independents have made decent quality FF wide angles recently. No more that 18-55 mm, no slower than F4 and high image quality please?!

Regards

John

Try and stretch to the 17-40 if possible, its an ace lens and works well on the 5D2. Have you tried Kerso on eBay, based in Fife and usually cheap as anywhere else. Close enough to pick up too so may do it cheaper with no postage. He often emails and offers an OFF ebay price too.

I wont embarrass myself by trying to suggest a lens John but it's good to hear you got your payout through thumbup

There's a revolutionary new piece of safety equipment which you might want to consider for the new one - apparently it goes round your neck whistle

What is happening to the 24-105 John? i.e. have you still got it and maybe planning to ebay it as broken or did you have to give it to the insurance company?

Still got the knackered 5d mk2 and the 24-105mm. Tempted to send it away to get an assesment of the damage and see how much it would be to fix it. Even if I had to spend 500 quid to fix it, it would be a welcome second body and lens!

was considering a s/hand 24-105mm and looked into servicing it at Fixation
Fixation technicians said:
To dismantle clean, service and calibrate a 24-105mm would be £85.00 plus any spares that may be required.

All prices are subject to VAT and postage.
