I call on the power of PH once more

My parents have just come back from a holiday on a small island In the Adriatic sea and gave us all one of these.

No its not human waste and no its not a dried bananna smile

It smells like feet infected with trench foot but tatses very sweet (yes she insisted we try it) Apparently all the locals scoff them streight off the trees (oh yeah they grow on trees) And the island sells them in huge quantities to european food manufatcurers to use as flavouring in chocolate spreads.

My best guess is some sort of mutant giant vanilla pod

Looks like a pacay pod, you can dry them out and they make a good percussion instrument. Large white edible pods. usually from Peru.

Though looking at an undried pacay pod, they're not too similar. That looks like a pacay when it's almost dried out totally.

They have them in Cyprus, but the name escapes me. Begins with a C - something like cariba. Tastes slightly chocolatey.

Is not a dried banana? Or human waste? Or it could be a foot infected with trenchfoot, try smelling it to confirm.

What was the name of the island? Surely your mum didn't say "we've been on holiday to a small island in the Adriatic"?
