Hi, I've insulated my loft with Insulation Rolls, to probably a depth of around 400mm. I had planned on replacing the old stuff, but was advised just to put the new stuff on top, as the old stuff, tired and dirty as it looked, would still be doing it's job. I have to admit, last winter I did notice a difference, particularly upstairs. I'm having my roof re-tiled this week, and having a couple of Velux windows fitted, so will be up in the loft pottering around. My question is, would there be any point in me cutting insulation boards and fitting them between the eaves of the roof, or would this be a waste of time, because theoretically the Insulation laid on the joists would be stopping any heat reaching the roof???

Waste of time and money, but putting rigid insulation to the sides of the sleeves between the Velux and the ceiling would be a good idea.
