I have an old laptop, it's vey old and the screen has died and it's cooling vents have been blocked by dried peroxide hair dye (don't ask). It still works though and has been my main machine for the past few years.

I have today bought a new laptop and need to know the best way to transfer data from the old laptop to the new one. Obviously Word docs and photographs can be done by USB but my main priority is getting Itunes over to my new laptop so all the music is there and that it will also recognise my iPhone and sync it ok just like on the old laptop. Does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

I did this...

or I found this in the same google... not tried it though..

I also purchased one of these, http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/eSATA-USB-SATA-2-5-3-5-HDD-H... so I could pull the HDD from the old laptop and have everything easily accessible from the new pc, a really handy thing to have (for me anyway). I actually got a 2 drive version, it was a couple of quid more expensive and I havent used the second slot but I'm hoping with the right software it will let me clone a HDD.

Take entire iTunes folder and replace the itunes on the new computer with it, (you'll have to launch iTunes so it creates the folder first). make sure you get iTunes to organise your library first so it has the library file all nice and super duper.
