Absolute bestest Android Phone? Money no Object!
Discussion
Money no object, what's the best one on the market at the moment? (must be on Vodafone, but they seem to do most of them)
Looking for storage, speed, battery life, screen quality, open-ness of the platform (I'd imagine they are all fairly open, this will be my first Android device)
and general "bestestness"
Thanks!
ETA I was thinking about HTC Desire, however arent these a bit long in the tooth now and better processors in some of the newer platforms? Ta...
ETA Sony X10 ???
ETA I know I said money no object. not this one though thanks... lets say anything that's available on a contract from Vodafone!

From reading stuff on the internet so far it seems they are all much of a muchness. Little to distinquish between them other than Megapixels on the camera, internal storage as standard (they all take micro-SD cards) and the screens. The Screen is only one that bothers me and on the whole they all seem to be all pretty good, HD would be nice, not a deal breaker though, a fast CPU would be for me, but they all appear to be running 1Ghz snapdragon (whatever that is)...
Saw an article about 2Ghz Nvidia CPUs but they are a while away yet...
Think I'll just order either the HTC HD or the Samsung... thanks!

Probably worth waiting for the Desire HD, it should have the edge over the Galaxy S in terms of user interface, plus it is "the latest greatest thing" (tm)Saw an article about 2Ghz Nvidia CPUs but they are a while away yet...

I'd read some reviews of the X10 (not sure why that was even in your list), I dont think it the "best" at anything.
I'd say it was between the Desire, Galaxy and whatever the Droids are know as over here in the UK.
You may find it better to go with what is in stock. Dont be surprised if they tell you they have the phones and then you find it takes a month to get it.

TBH, they are much of a muchness a lot of them...
Desire HD probably edges it at the moment, but its brand new, and something of an unknown. Although the screen is the biggest of any android phone at the moment, it has been criticised for not looking as good as the likes of the Galaxy S, and even the standard Desire seems to boast better colours.
Galaxy S - best screen of the lot, and on paper, some of the best hardware, but the reality is of a phone which is hindered by samsungs implementation of android. It simply doesn't run as well as its rivals, GPS seems to be broken for many, and is full of bugs. I got rid of mine for those reasons.
Desire - pretty much the same as the HD, only smaller screen, a slightly lower resolution camera, and the processor and GPU are slightly slower, but on the flipside, it has a bigger battery. Lots of choice of available ROMs.
Nexus One - Basically a Desire, but with a track ball, soft touch keys, and noise cancelling. Runs the standard Vanilla Android, will ALWAYS get updates before the others, and is still the benchmark to which others are measured. As I can personally testify, the N1 with a good ROM on it is a VERY fast and VERY good phone.
Choose any of those, and you can't go too far wrong really, TBH, but I'd choose the HTC trio (DHD, Desire, N1) over the SGS as the latter is just too buggy. As for the likes of the X10, it can't compete with the others as an all round device IMO. Too laggy, slow and uses an ancient version of android which is now well outdated.

I must admit i havent stopped playing with it. I am no techy at all btw so have ben downloading apps and trying to work out why i dont know the password for my home email.
The phone however is beautiful. very large screen, its quite a bit wider than my Husband's Desire. It's fast, very responsive, crisp pictures. My only criticism so far is unlike the Desire there are no on screen buttons. It's all touch so for example I take pics of me and my kids together using the Desire as i can face the camera to me and press the button but the Desire HD has no button so i cant do that. As I say that is a tiny thing. I really really do love it though.
