Hi, Just wondered if anyone can give advice on this issue.

I've just purchased a mobile phone (Nokia 6303i)which has Bluetooth v2.1 + EDR.

I've also purchased a Bluetooth USB adaptor v2.0 + EDR for my pc. (should have checked first)

I cannot get the two to find each other. I have read up on wikipedia and it does say that v2.1 is backward compatible.

Is it the two different versions that are causing my problem & I just need a v2.1 USB adaptor/dongle or is it more likely to be something else.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Have you set the correct device to 'discoverable'? Tried it both ways? I mean, the PC trying to find the phone and vice-versa?

Hi, I have switched the phones bluetooth on & set the phone to "visible"

I have tried searching for the phone from the PC & vice versa.

I have also tried searching for the phone using my tom tom 710 & this connects successfully.

I have since done more internet research and I find the software that came bundled with the USB dongle (IVT Bluesoleil) has a few compatibility issues with Nokias PC Suite depending on version.

Gah. I've never found Bluetooth on Windows to 'just work', I tend to have various issues. Windows 7 might have improved things, but I've had no cause to try it yet.

But, you say you are using Bluesoleil so maybe you're not using the standard Windows Bluetooth software. It's been a while, but can you just use the driver for the dongle and not the Bluetooth software? Then just use Windows Bluetooth?

I might be talking crap though.

Hi, I un-installed the software and tried the windows bluetooth but it still won't find the phone.

I also tried it using a different PC but to no avail.

It could be that I have a dud cheap and nasty usb adaptor but device manager says it is working correctly. I also let device manager find a better driver but still no luck.

I think I'll look for a better dongle.

Thanks for your help anyway.
