How do people in general judge whether they are being told the truth or lies?
I'm absolutely hopeless at judging this. In fact I'm probably quite gullible - I've fallen for some whoppers!
Is there some kind of body language, signs and symptoms that you can use to
tell if someone is telling the truth?
No specific scenario around this just a life skill I seem to lack!

with some people it's obvious with others it isn't. Generally body language is the biggest clue, for example, I have picked up a habit of not looking people in the eye any more which can make me look a bit shifty as its usually one of the clues.
Some people, are very good liers, they are the ones who probably lie so much that it is second nature and don't even realise which things they say are lies or the truth.

And others just decide everyone is lying and treat everything with massive suspicion untill proved otherwise.
And this is me. Trust is earned not lost. Oh jesus. This means I really do have the mental. I'm not outwardly suspicious of people, I just take things most people say with a pinch of salt until I see proof/demonstration/confirmation. I thought most people did that?
Harder when you don't know a person of course and you can't always be correct.
I believe i'm pretty good at judging people, alot of it is body language, if they act differently when saying something then theres most likely a reason, if they struggle to look you in the eye, take a slight grin then it could be a lie.
The easier way to determine if it is a lie is to be sceptical when you hear something unrealist, 'i just won £10m' if it sounds unrealistic and you ask some questions you can usually determine whether it be true or false.
