Secondary Glazing Vs Double Glazing

As mentioned in another topic, my house is Grade 2 listed (just the front including the roof). Internally and to the rear just the usual restrictions apply.
Sat here tonight, I've decided I need to sort the window situation out!
It's all single glazed leaded windows. Now at the back I'm probably just going to get standard brown PVC frames installed but at the front it's a different matter.
I've had a look at a few companies offering secondary glazing (MagneGlaze and Everest). I've also found a picture of my house pre-listing and it now has the single glazed windows.
I'd love to have a set of sash windows made up to replace the current windows (nothing against them!) but if I can't get LBC, has anyone got/had any experience with secondary glazing systems and any recommendations.
Also, can anyone recommend me a double glazing company who are decent (heard mixed reviews of a company associating itself with a large mountain!).
