*Possible 'How long is a piece of string scenario'*

Let's say I had a low cost, fairly light weight product which I wanted to sell either by direct debit, debit or credit card from my (hypothetical) website. At what point does the value of the order start to make sense? ie, how much would the customer need to spend before it made sense to me, WRT charges from the various companies handling the transactions?

It wouldn't be the sort of item every home would want, and I would operate as a sole trader, if that helps at all.

Maybe use a fulfillment house, send your kit to them and just send emails for them to deliver for you.

If its cheap kit try and build an opted in database of customers so you can market to them in future and make the low margin sale worthwhile

At about 20p, providing you built in the transaction charges into your pricing...
