For those who may be interested, there is a two part programme on the race starting this Saturday at 7:30am (!) with the second part the same time the week after.

Hopefully a lot of coverage of the Sunsail fleet, always the most entertaining.

Oh yeah, that might be useful.

It's on channel 4.

Well that was a load of old tosh, didn't see anyone I knew. Only a couple of boats were well known. Bloody telly people.

Typical sailing documentary...airy fairy music accompanying "ooo it's so gentle" dinghy sailing-check. Ben Ainslie/Ellen MacArthur-check. Blithering English buffoons in the style of "Three men in more than one boat"-check. Tailing a self tailing winch for that real "teamwork" shot-check.

Ho hum...hopefully next week's might have a bit more sailing in it...

Putting in a racing tack we always did this - you can get the sheet in much faster, and if you have a clew-diver it is the only way to do it.

Agreed, and obviously for kite trimming you might not bother putting it in...however these guys were total newbies on a cruiser and it just looked like a "nice team shot for the camera please..."

(Perhaps I'm just jealous I don't have self tailers...)

You're jealous - I am restoring an old boat and it doesn't even have non-self-tailers (it has the bases where they used to be but someone has nicked them) - I am thinking of going back to block-and-tackle!
