Might be possible you made him to fat and he shed a bit of snow and flew off with a child in nightgown and is currently having a party with other snowmen at the north pole.

What? a free bowling ball? on top of the hiviz jacket and a hard hat?

I think the OP was asking for it with the hi-viz. should have dressed him as a ninja smile

Why? because they are brainless. Even if you had caught the person they probably could not explain their actions. No thought process.

So basically the Health and Safety rep for the snowman world was inadequately equipped to perform his duties i.e. standing there on the lawn?

Irony?

Someone did that to a snowman the kids built years ago, I saw it around midnight, some git had knocked it all over the garden, so I carefully round the bits up and carried them into the back yard and rebuilt it (around a pile of bricks)

Kids were rather impressed when they got up to find the snowman had got up and walked round the back during the night (we came up with some story about him being shy, so he didn't want to be seen from the road)

I assume you have the crime scene secured with yellow tape and are currently getting plaster casts of the offending trainer footprints.

Invite a few friends over for a beer.
Build a new snowman
Place tripwire in the direction in which you chase them.
Option 1 beat the crap out of them. Keep trainers as evidencesmile
Option 2 Do you have access to bear traps in UK.

I'm sure we've all vandalised a snowman at some point in our lives. I set about one with a baseball bat last night, it was hilarious.
