A quick question for the painters and decorators out there. What are the benefits of trade paint over normal paint? E.G What is the difference between the Dulux I buy at Homebase over the Dulux Trade I can buy at my local Brewers?

Thanks

I 'think' it goes further than the normal domestic stuff, quite a few people have told me to use it. I used some trade emulsion paint here, a bloke on a site i was on gave it to me, i can't remember the name but will try to remember to check, i mixed it with water to use as a mist coat, i,m sure after painting most of my house theres still as much there as when i started biglaugh

Thanks for this. I managed to find some more info on another forum and the general consensus seems to be it's not worth it for DIYers like myself. Has anyone else got any experience or opinions?

Cheers

hi, i have been involved with paint all my life and in my teens worked for many years in a DIY store, and then a trade builders merchants and i assure you that DIY paint is INFERIOR to "trade" paints.

trade paint is better quality and will last longer than DIY paint.

If you have a painting project, get yourself down to your local trade paint supplier as most DIY paint is utter rubbish!

good luck
