reading materials?

Hey guys,
quick question. Ive just got myself an slr this christmas and am hoping to read up on techniques to get myself started.
Are there any magazines or books you recommend as i had a look in smiths and there are hundreds to choose from?

Also....

Any other photography forums that you frequent? i just signed up to talk photography which seems decent.

What sort of photography are you interested in? I read a few generic texts on digital photography, but none of them really helped me, then i read Three Songs, No Flash (http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/1933952482) which really helped.

So my advice would be to find a book specific to the style of photography your interested in.
