Hi Guys.

I have a 996 C4S with heated seats.

The RH heated seat has stopped working and the switch will not stay on either showing red or orange. Strangely the red light will illuminate briefly once the 'On' is pressed then released. The Switch is ok as I've swapped it with the LH side one and it worked OK. The LH switch then did not work in the RH loom.

So the problem must be further down the line - I lost my mobile under the seat last week and 'mooched' around for it maybe dislodging a connector or similar.

Anyone have an idea where the connector is or any other ideas?

Thanks - Great news!

Could it not be the connector? If the element fails wouldnt the system act the same as the the circuit being broken?

It means that the seat element cicuit is open circuit, the back and base elemenst are wired in series, if one ofr the other breaks, then you will get the lights as you describe. Unlikely to be theplug but worth checking.

sorry o hear this - HOWEVER - its not a MEGA-job - if you can find a good leather-trimmer etc I had one go a few years ago on an M car I owned - DIY start to finish in a couple of hours.

Call around - you may be surprised and they will probably be able to do a good load test for you too - before disecting the seat.

Thanks Guys...

My local Porsche Dealership has said they will do a circuit continuity test for £20 so that's the next step.

It just feels too coincedental it's gone after some heavy mooching under the seat so I'm hoping it's the unlikely connector problem!

Hi all,

Does anyone have a picture of the underside of the seat and where the plugs are please?

My 996 is also suffering from this common issue. The passenger seat works but not the drivers. Investigating now the passenger seat has a plug laying on the floor but can't see where it came from...... The back rest heats up but not the base so presume it's either come unplugged or the base has failed and been disconnected. Trouble is I can't see where it goes frown

So drivers seat maybe the same, so once I know where and which connector is ill trouble shoot the drivers and see if it's also the base which needs replacing.

Many thanks in advance

Andy
