What Are Prisons Like In Dubai?

Ok, I have a friend who has tried to get some stuff through customs without declaring in Dubai.

It was hi-tec equipment rather than money or drugs, but duty should have been paid on it.

The Dubai authorities have kept the equipment, but let my friend go.

What could he be looking at? Time in jail? A fine? A slap on the wrist? Enforced amputation? Death?

Well if they've let him go, he's not 'looking at' anything, is he?

Surely they can call him back to go infront of a judge if they wanted to?

If not, surely the question is more along the lines of "What are their extradition treaties with the UK like?"

A few friends have done little stretches here for various reasons.

A lot depends where you are but overall I wouldn't want to spend any time in them at all.

I would imagine if he is not in there already he will avoid going, they tend to throw you in and ask questions later normally.
