It wasn't on the first page when I looked around midnight, 1AM. Was it there then? I saw that Big Al had started the biker's image a day thread, and the top post was someone looking for CR480 MotoCross wheels.

I admit when I get stuff wrong. Not putting my hands up this time would be inconsistent. Link to the thread please?

I thought the rider made a good job of missing that car.

What was that line Casey Stoner came out with about another rider making moves their talent cheques couldn't cover? Would you rather have that rider intrude into your life uninvited when their talent runs out while they're behind the wheel or on a motorcycle?
Sounds like a fudged quote from Top Gun, which is quite gay.

Ghey jibe doesn't bug me. That film has the GPz750R in it. Not a 900, but still quite a machine. I think Stoner is OK too. smile

Thank you Ki3r. I'm not sure it was there lastnight before I went to bed. I came across that video signing out of Yahoo! webmail lastnight. Seems my CR480 MotoCross wheels are 'WR450 supermoto wheels wanted'. My possibly photographic memory isn't what it was.

It wasn't a dig at the motorcyclist. All my motorcycle crashes have been single vehicle accidents, so when I dropped them it only impacted on me.

Regarding people filming themselves breaking the law on the road, I've since been reminded of two deceased motorcyclists in Cornwall, one whose death was caught on camera. I don't know if the Usain Bolt pose motorcycling PHer is out of jail yet, so that's another reference to people recording themselves and it coming back to haunt them, a little nod to 10_Pence_Short's Prison Diary.

It's a fair cop, I am slow. Late to the party. My tardiness can be a real drag sometimes I've just realised after a 45 minute chat with a solicitor on the phone.

I didn't look very hard in biker banter. I was wrong.

Heading east from the Cat & Fiddle towards the A54 was a 100mph average section back in the day, as long as you didn't worry about the sheep eek

hello I found this topic after a search after getting a ticket, or two of! which arrived today for that stretch of road, I was in my partners car so will have to do the paperwork side of things to sort that out.

I had to go to buxton on two evenings to meetings, and on the way back the camera got me doing 57 and 59 on a 50 zone, towards macclesfield, camera says A54/A537 Wildboarclough.

I am really annoyed because on both nights when I left buxton it was raining, and I was in mx5 with candles as headlights = not great progress, each trip I came back via the old road / cut through by the stanley arms, and am uncertain of thats the section they refer to - any ideas? I will get them to send the photo evidence that they say they have.

totally gutted as I was proud of my clean licence.

That to me would mean Buxton end as you climb out before or just next to the Congelton turn. Regards the pictures I think they only show those to you if you go to court.

Which was it? The Cat & Fiddle doesn't go through or near Wildboarclough, and Wildboarclough isn't on the Buxton side of the summit.

If you're even thinking about contesting this you'll have to get your story straight!
Haven't read this all the way through , but previous WARNINGS have not been heeded about being careful what is said on open forum. Did someone mention CPS expert witness? Enter stage left (or more possibly sitting in the wings ,with pencil poised) , PH own resident CPS expert. He promised not to post again, but that was possibly under that username. But I'll bet he's listening ,looking to use any info to earn some cash and possibly brownie points.

Some posters appear to be confused by the use of average speed cameras. They appear to think that the offence is driving at an average speed above the limit. One poster asked if it is lawful for the prosecution to rely on one camera showing a speed above the limit. The point is that exceeding the limit just once is enough. There are different ways of collecting evidence, but the offence stays the same.

Agreed about the offence of exceeding the limit, but surely the point of SPECS is that it records a measurement between two points to calculate an average? I wasn't aware that it functions like a Gatso/Truvelo/D-Cam/etc to record a spot speed. Are you saying that it can and does?

No they don't. Unless breadvan knows of some new type.

SPECS average speed cameras explained

SPECS average speed camera systems utilise state of the art video system with Automatic Number Plate Reading (ANPR) digital technology. These cameras are each fitted with infra red illuminators fitted on gantries above the road, so they can work day or night.

SPECS speed cameras are located in multiple (at least 2 at a minimum of 200 metres apart) locations along a single stretch of road for monitoring your average speed along that particular road. So unlike other speed cameras which capture your speed at a certain point in the road, SPECS average speed camera work and track you speed over a set distance, which may be serveral miles!

How do SPECS speed cameras work?

SPECS speed camera systems commonly enforce speed limits on dual carriageways and motorways. SPECS gantry installations can monitor up to four lanes. The SPECS system are located at the side of the road or at central reservations. Cameras are then located at regular intervals to operate a managed speed control zone.

Each SPECS speed camera records a date and time stamp. Then, by ANPR, the computer can then work out your average speed between the cameras with photographic evidence that you were speeding between the SPECS cameras. SPECS speed cameras also record your number plate and issue you a speeding ticket if you were speeding along the average speed controlled stretch of road.

My point is simply that if you exceed the limit there is a risk that you might be done for it. There is a tendency on PH for people to fixate on the methods of detection and forget that the offence is very simple. I add the usual caveat that I break speed limits often. If I get caught, I shrug and pay up. Like most speeders, I am a very successful criminal, because the vast majority of my speeding goes undetected.

After this bold admission of repeat offending, you will presumably be turning yourself in.
