Surely if anyone needs to think twice about there actions it's the driver of the bus?

Deliberately driving a bus at a cyclist is knocking on for attempted murder, 17 months (only probably serving 9) is nowhere near a stiff enough sentence.

Interesting. Clearly some altercation between then, with the bike seemingly stopped in front of the bus at the start. But with the bus being so close behind, a couple of feet it looks like as they set off, why does the bike stay to the right of the lane and why once the bus starts to overtake does the bike veer to the right? It genuinely looks like they were having a proper pop at each other, but holy crap there is only ever going to be one winner!!
The bus driver is a complete fking tool though, he could easily have had that guy stuck under the wheels and killed him. BUt it does not surprise me, many bus drivers drive extremely agressively and some are just downright animals, this guy included.

I just dont see the point in getting involved in such things, it's highly likely the cyclist needs a slap for being a tool too.

It goes without saying that this was a stupid act which could have lead to the cyclists death. The cyclist appears to have been a complete tool though.

If it comes to it, get off and sort it out man to man, Bus driver deserves to never drive again, he crossed a line and used his vehicle as a weapon, maybe the cyclist did something but I doubt it was anything to which that was an appropriate retort.

Think he'll paint one of these on the side of the bus in WW2 fighter pilot style? hehe

For some reason it just displayed a single frame when I tried it earlier on. Strange!

Watching it now yes the bus driver should not under any circumstance have done what he did but on the other hand we know the cyclist placed his bike on the front of the bus (presumably to stop it driving off), we don't know what was said on the bus and then watching the video it appears the cyclist is purposefully riding towards the offside of the lane almost in a deliberate attempt to provoke the bus driver. So who was the antagonist?

I watched that video closely & the bicyclist was trying as hard as he could by accelerating & pulling to his right to stop the bus from overtaking. I wonder if the bus driver was actually trying to dart left to occupy the left lane stopping the bicyclist from preventing the overtake, but judged it totally wrong.

Not saying that did happen & the bus driver should of known better, but looking at the vid it's a possibility.

Im thinking that there will be two people regretting their actions that day.

The bus driver though is lucky he wasn't facing a murder charge

I know the subject has been done to death but there are cyclists who get what they deserve. The other day I had the audacity to overtake 3 cyclists who had just left a local factory, only one of them had lights & it was early in the morning (still dark). I overtook them about 200 yards before a set of traffic lights, the lights were on red & although one of them tried to jump the lights nearly getting hit by a car coming from the right on green, the other two came past me again & stopped in front of me, when the lights changed they were still talking, so knowing that these lights change fairly quickly, I gave a very short peep of the horn & pointed to the green light. I got treated to a Gareth Hunt impersonation & they then stayed put until the lights changed to red again, then went off through the red light turning to laugh at me sitting there. Couple of tins of red bull & I could have been that bus driver quite happily.

You'd quite happily try and kill someone because they upset you a bit?

This guy deserved much longer in prison, weak sentence in my opinion.

We didn't hear any of the evidence, just saw a little murky clip. I'll wager a large sum that the cyclist wasn't an innocent by-stander.

I cycle to work every day.

Provocation, many people have avoided jail sentences because of it.

No I wouldn't quite happily kill someone (although I do believe that given the right/wrong circumstances everyone has the capability), the last line was meant to be a bit tongue in cheek, hence the red bull reference. The point I was making is I see people like these cyclists who seem to behave in such a way that they are trying to provoke a reaction. As with most things, if you try enough times you will get a reaction, it just might not be the one you hoped for.

Unfortunately using a vehicle as a weapon seems give judges a licence to dish out short sentences.

This guy ended up with a broken leg, broken wrist, broken thumb and knackered knee. He was lucky not to have ended up dead. All because a professional driver couldn't keep his cool and used his company bus as a weapon.

17 months is a joke.
