I don't suppose anyone on here works or has worked at Toys R Us?

As i'm after the MD's email addy (David Rurka?) & not surprisingly wink google isn't helping much.

Background Story:

Got a nice 'invoice' from G24 (working for Toys R us) for being in their free car park too long (63 minutes, when the limit is 45)

Reason being that, not only did we purchase some stuff (£30) but we we're looking at ideas for my son's birthday present (in a couple of weeks time) ...& as kids do, he was looking at & playing with virtually everything in there, from skylanders to scooters ...to bikes!

Now, normally i'd file under 'bin' & ignore ...but it's slightly complicated by the fact i'd only recently purchased my car & the 'invoice' has been sent to the previous keeper (DVLA records not updated yet) who isn't quite as savvy & is a little bit jittery

So it's probably simpler to get in cancelled at source hence the request. (& pre-empting the store managers possible response wink )

mods: please feel free to move to SPL if i've posted in the wrong place

How does the ex-owner being scared about it effect you? If they choose to pay it then fine, but they can't make you do anything so wouldn't worry about it.

If the previous owner is particularly concerned, they can write to G24 informing them of the change of keeper. G24 will then write to you and you can bin as appropriate.

1. Because i feel slightly responsible for the amount of threatening letters he's about to receive?

2. Because if i can spend 2 minutes, to save someone else a load of grief i will?

3. It's a friends f-i-l ...& i'd rather keep the friendship ta

You're absolutely right to think that on any of those three grounds. Getting a message to the MD or at least an area manager should do the trick, though even a store manager might be enough - worth a try and they're easier to get hold of?

Why is this of concern to the previous owner ? He should just file in the bin.

You shouldn't have even been aware of the ticket if he had dealt with it accordingly.

+1 I would be furious if I had been a customer there and actually bought something.

I had similar happen at Wicks when thay kept us waiting to see the kitchen designer for two hours. Walked back in and saw the manager and he took care of it.

MD or area manager won't be in the slightest bit interested.

If you feel that you have to do the right thing ring the parking people, tell them you recently purchased the vehicle, confirm the previous owners details to show you are genuine, then explain on the phone that you are not paying their speculative invoice.

Alternatively, since the previous owner is a friends father in law, why not tell him to expect the letter and not to worry, just to either bin it or forward it to yourself?

It's not toys r us that you have a problem with, it's the parking company.

Why - the ticket is just paper, continue to shop and ignore it. Don't take it personally or try and fight. Until these companies get any legal clout, they are just printing/posting out lip service.

Not sure if this is useful but the above company profile page, has an 'email' link to David Rurka and their UK H/O address.

If you sign up free for 30 days, it appears you can email him from the link.

So does he already have a letter saying they are after the money? if so then it must have been at least a couple weeks ago so why didn't you try to sort it before that?

Have you had the V5 through in the post yet, or has the previous owner had the notification that he is no longer responsible for the car?

Alternatively the friend's fil should reply to the parking company informing them he sold the car on X date and does not have contact details for the new owner and that any further correspondence will potentially start a harrassment claim in court. Send this SD (£5.45) and retain the documentation concerned.
