HPI'd a car I'm buying and Flagged Stolen, please advise!
Discussion
Ok, so now it turns out the stolen marker has been removed and it is HPI clear again!?
HPI rang me, they have spoken to the insurance company and it was stolen with the keys and then recovered with no damage.
Any wear and tear the robbers did is likely to be minimal compared to what I would likely put it through anyway
I am tempted to still go ahead with it now as it only has 52,000 on it and drives really well.
Also now, any HPI checks in future will show up clear.
The garage has done the cam belt and uprated water pump and wheel alignment for me also so not sure he would be too happy if I cancelled anyway, and would likely lose some of the deposit.
Not sure what to do now!

Chap, it's your money.
Do with it as you will.
Take on board all that has been said and make a decision...only you can do that.
Thanks, have done! I decided to cancel on the stolen one and will hopefully get my deposit back as it was not as advertised or described...Do with it as you will.

Here are a few pictures of the one I just got home. A few more miles and a year older but oh well, still drives well and two grand cheaper anyway! Just need to get rid of the silly silver mirrors.

Well it was VISA Debit, I think the same protection applies.
Nooooooooooooooooooooooooo.No, it doesn't.
With a credit card you get 'section 75' protection and with Visa debit you get 'chargeback' and they are slightly different in what they offer.

That's a nice looking car. Don't think the silver wing mirrors look too bad - in fact they match the interior! I think you did the right thing - it'd be in the back of your mind all the time otherwise.
Cheers mate, it's nice to have something a bit quick again after having driven around in a Jeep for the last 6 months! Might leave the mirrors too as they are the brushed alu ones not the chromed ones I thought they were.Timbuk2 said:

Not sure about the 8L but the 8P S3 has brushed alu mirrors as standard. All the S and RS cars do, so I assume they are standard.spikeyhead said:

Quite a few bank staff who populate the 'enquiries' desk do not know about Visa/Mastercard chargeback. Some even give out incorrect/misleading information.
