Sortie 10 said: As a lad in the seventies, I was blown away by an uncle (serving with Devon & Cornwall police) showing me an Opel Commodore GSE. This was clearly on trial but looked quite exotic when compared with the other patrol cars. Has anyone got any pictures of this car (in livery)? Does anyone else recall this car? A number of forces ran these, is it the same body style?

The Royal Military Police had Opel Senators over in Germany in the late 80s early 90s.

I must've have been a bad boy, they wouldn't let me drive one, I had to make do with a Ford Escort diesel estate.

Simply just a stunning drive, those lads were giving it everything. The section where they drive across the pavement at Hyde Park Corner is fantastic, and lovely weather for it too! Absolutely smashing stuff, this video. Classic 80's traffic copper stuff. This sort of thing still goes on, my local force have extended blue light runs out of the area to deliver forensic evidence in major investigations or to transport organs. A friend of mine who is ex traffic fondly recalls doing an organ run along the A69 in the dead of night in an S60 T5. He is a superb driver too, I bet he had the taps open on the Volvo that night! As a couple of friends of mine have experienced, they also collect organ transplant patients from time to time My dad has done a few things like this. I love it (even if I am 22!) when he tells me about the time he drove my Auntie and Uncle up from Crawley to the Royal Brompton playing catch up with the Met and the Ambulance. He said the Met, local bobbies and cabbies were brilliant. At one point the Ambulance punted an unobservant driver out the way I really wish he had managed to get the video of that would have made great viewing!

I suppose I should be thankful for the Escort, our police post had a Mini Metro! That wouldn't have been too bad but the NCO based there was 6'7"

Which is a shame. Mad Max did No, he didn't.

Streaky Not police, but I've always liked the look of the BRIXMIS Senators- converted to 4wd and armoured underneath, plus all sorts of other kit...

"White Mice" were part of the Royal Military Police, they used to chase after the Soxmis cars.
