Magazine article recently in which a BiB(can't remember which force) had found and restored his old Volvo240GLT only non standard item where steel wheels and no leather, mechanically everything else was standard GLT spec. Does this rate as the worst

From what I have heard in the past, the Senator 24v is usually regarded as the best Motorway Patrol car that has served in the UK - posts on this thread would seem to back this up!

Am I correct in thinking that when Police Forces were advised the 24v Senator was being phased out and replaced by the Omega, existing Vauxhall Senator stock was bought up and put into dry storage until required?

Several American police forces have done that with Crown Vics.

Derbyshire bought, I think, 3 Senators even though Omegas were already on the fleet and put them to one side till needed - not through any love of them per se but because they were dirt cheap.

As an aside, after the debacle with the 1300 Pan Euros (the 'weave/wobble' thing), Derbyshire destroyed the bikes it had bought (well, dismantled them, sold off the usable bits but cut the frames up), then bought 'new, old stock' 1100 models and put them into dry storage - that was around 6 years ago. The bikes could even still be there as we went onto leased R1200RTs just before I finished and the Hondas never even got striped up or had radios fitted AFAIK....I never heard that they got sold off.
