No one has said there is. Only that there is a legal obligation for the dealer to inform the relevant authorities when large amounts of cash is concerned.

No no no, everyone else on the internet is a geek, with the exception of the person that's making threats on the internet, they're the hardest person in the world.

Even if he has, I'm sure the police wouldn't hesitate to add a further charge of harassment whilst on parole, assuming we are still referring to the chap found guilty.

Totally true. Just as Steroids and/or growth hormones don't make you likely to go further to beat someone in a fight. They just give you a visual and anger edge against a Joe Public.

I've known a couple of real nutjobs when I was younger and they weren't muscle-bound. Both went on to do serious time (one for an assault on a cocky gang of lads with a kitchen knife).

Well unless Mastodon 2 has tits he has nothing to fear, the guy is a small dicked ahole who beats up women, and yes I will happily wait whilst he goes round knocking on doors, as a bloke he will probably run if anybody offered him out, his sort always do.

That's exactly it. The sort of person that says "You won't say that when he knocks on your door" is probably 'powerfully built' and use to intimidating people with their size. In most cases they think their size and aggresiveness is all they need, rarely willing to do whatever it takes to come out on top. Unfortunately, in the real world, the real psychos are some of the most nondescrepit people you can imagine. Glasgows Paul Ferris for example, looks like a geography teacher.

After reading the last news report, I took a streetview gander down his road. His car collection must have been worth more than the street.

We were as shocked and appalled as anyone to read of the actions and subsequent conviction of Keith Turner. Keith was indeed one of our customers and bought and sold several cars through us. We had no idea of his activities and want it to be clear that we condemn his actions in the strongest possible terms.
We hope the victims involved can make a full recovery and wish them all the best for the future. The deal was done with four part exchanges and a small balance done by transfer !

With regard to internet (and other) types of threatening, it's not usually the ones who threaten that you need to worry about. The real nutters just do it with little provocation or forethought. As has been said, they are usually not the muscle bound types either.

One of the residential house is tagged as a 'Pharmacy' on streetview...
No joke.

Just for clarity, anti-money laundering would kick in at two levels, potentially three.

A 'high value dealer' is responsible to report any suspicious activities to the appropriate authorities - primarily governed by the FSA and ultimately the SOCA.

A bank is absolutely obligated, under FSA regulation, to report any suspicious financial transactions - there is no limit although many banks use the £10,000 floor as a typical guidance. The onus is on false negative reporting, with anything of question to be reported and then investigated.

If there is a third party who is regulated under AML - e.g. a broker, solicitor, financial adviser - then they would also be required to report any suspicious activity.

The Inland Revenue are an investigating body, but not a primary reporting or governance body. Where large cash transactions have occurred then they will have an interest from a tax evasion perspective.

Suspicious may not be directly obvious, a bag full of £50 notes for example. Many drug dealers for example build up a series of smaller trades and then merge them into larger ones, such as buying some lower cost items and then reselling them to amass cash to go into a larger item, now with receipts. Or perhaps carrying out a trade to exchange a larger item for a number of smaller items. Then they sell the apparently legitimate larger item to generate a lot of legitimate cash.

They may only realise 40-50p on the £1 at the end of the day, but better than not being able to realise it at all.

It wasn't implied either, you just mis-understood.

Are you actually saying that one could not buy a 300k car and pay for it in cash?
Yep, When I bought mine they said the limit for cash is £9k.
