what did sambaman get banned for in the first place? i made some fairly innocuous remarks in a thread that he was posting on ages ago & within hours i'd had a text message from someone connected to SP&TL warning me off. this even though i live in a completely differnet part of the country & have had (& will unlikely ever have) any personal dealings with him.
the general gist of it was that he wouldn't take kindly to my "gentle" ribbing.

Also, from 2008;
"Motor trader Keith Turner, of VW Relics was given a one year conditional discharge and made to pay £514 costs and £700 compensation for supplying an “unroadworthy” vehicle"

when he started going on about buying a carrera gt, he came across as a troll. the next thing he'd bought a pretty shoddy looking 993rs lookalike & was passing it off as genuine, or letting people insinuate it was genuine.
i think i merely posted that i didn't think the guy was genuine.

Don't really need to comment on Keith Turners responses but I wouldn't exactly say that Claire Roberts initial response to the "not the prettiest bus" comment can be deemed as being written in a professional manner. Customer or not.Reading her email it also sounds like she'd got previous experience of him.

I remember contacting you before about buying a bus years ago or something similar, I had hope the response would change, but it seems like you are still an obnoxious creep.

Is it just me, or was it obvious that the bloke was a primo tool from his tasteless choice of blingmobile, and the fact that he had a brand new car resprayed? It is striking that, amongst certain sections of PH, possession of a tarted up superhoonermobile that costs a lot to look rather cheap brings instant stardom and a string of admiring boy-groupies, who may have posters of such cars in their rooms at mum's house, outside which they park their chavved up Saxos and Corsas.
My work sometimes brings me into contact with people who, despite no apparent taste, style, decency, or even much in the way of brains, have enough low cunning to do very well in some kinds of business, or at least to run up a footballer-ish lifestyle mainly on credit. Trollope's great novel "Vanity Fair" skewered such characters in the early C19, and they haven't changed much since then.
100% this. But it's not just the 'saxo' chavs that are guilty of this. There's a common thread running through this site that 'money talks' and if you dare question the status quo, you get accused of jealousy, communism or worse.My work sometimes brings me into contact with people who, despite no apparent taste, style, decency, or even much in the way of brains, have enough low cunning to do very well in some kinds of business, or at least to run up a footballer-ish lifestyle mainly on credit. Dead right 100%. To some on PH anyone with a lot of money is a hero to be worshipped.Anyone who questions whether rich man X, Y or Z is actually a hero is labelled envious and told they "should have worked harder at school" or something equally vapid, even when it's obvious by reading Sambaman or tbops or any number of other rich aholes' posts thatr schoolwork has had nowt to do with their accumulation of wealth.
It's also funny how many sites essentially protect thugs and crooks by hiding behind naming and shaming rules even when there is clear prima facie evidence of wrongdoing. The Karl Verdi situation springs to mind.

TBH I was pleasantly surprised that the target of all this vitriol wasn't a police officer this time. oldsoak said:

There is a lot of criticism of the police on PH, some of it pretty uninformed by the look of it.I hope you'd accept oldsoak that there is also a tendency of some on PH to label any criticism at all of the police as "BiB-bashing" which isn't always correct by any means. It's a two-way street.

Has tbops been tried in court yet?
No idea, I just read the reports on Jalopnik which said he was a big-time cocaine dealer who'd been done before. I was just using him as an example of a rich man idolised by so many on PH who turned out not to have worked hard for his money but instead to have been a criminal parasite.I've a lot more respect and admiration for the guy who works hard flipping burgers in MacDonald's to pay the monthlies or buy new wheels for his Saxo.
