Robert Lockhart faces charges of dangerous driving and speeding at Dundee Sheriff Court.
It is alleged that on 26 May this year he rode his Suzuki Hayabusa motorcycle at 122mph on the A92 between Panmurefield Village Roundabout and East Balgillo Roundabout on the outskirts of Dundee.
Fiscal depute Donna Davidson told the court that a letter had been received from his solicitors pleading not guilty to the charges. oops...

speedyguy said: Who's going to be first to say the limits are a random number on a stick, & there's no issue with the speed Well, I've just been and had a look at that stretch on google maps and it's a long, flat, virtually straight dual carriageway with no junctions or joining roads on the side mentioned and a couple of short sections of footpath. Down the centre is wire armco for the full length of the section. Surface looks good and there are no crossings until the very end adjacent to the roundabout. 40 mph seems unreasonably low for that road.

as its going to court cant he refuse to incriminate himself as the rider and they then have to prove it was him?

The defence will be interesting, especially as to how quickly it moves from denial of the offence to mitigation.

Big problem with anti-speed is it seems to imply driving under the limit makes it "safe", when it isn't and is probably the most risky thing the vast majority of people do (other than maybe walking alongside road)

8/10 for effort. 122 MPH is a fair speed in a 40. Even if it is on a bike.
0/10 for attempting to comply with the speed limit. Hardly a momentary lapse.
I see "Go to jail. Do not pass go or collect £200".

He could always nominate Steve Cooghan.
If you fail to nominate the driver at the time of the offence then can the person, under Scottish law, be punished for the offence of speeding or only faiing to notify?

I am unsure of the Scottish law. Daft speed in 40 limit. I cannot see a happy ending the court will be very jail term orientated.
