We were at a cocktail party in the hangar (I am a Civvy) when I noticed two RAF guests putting sorme sort of RAF marketing sticker on a navy helicopter. A harmless jape one would think. I casually mentioned it my friend - a senior officer who had invited me - thinking he'd see the funny side, but I couln't have been more wrong. He went ape s t. I have inadvertantly dropped the RAF guys in it. All very restrained at the party but I understand the two RAF lads were soundly b ked afterwards for what at the worst was a bit of cheeky fun. (Just to say I have witnessed a lot of RN high jinx. The ceiling in the officer's mess in MPA in the Falklands bears testimony to this with the side number of a British Frigate sandpapered into the wood. Stand at a certain angle and you see "F94" above your head as you drink. Just a reminder to the RAF and army that HMS Brave waz 'ere. I can't see the harm in what the cops did.) The Fleet Air Arm, and Army Air Corps used to get very upset about this, so we used to do it as often as possible, always an advantage not to have civvy snitches around though ! Jesus wept, it was even common amongst different squadrons. RAF humour at its best, annoying the "lessers"

Tango13 said: How long have the Met had these 'You've met the Met' stickers? The reason I ask is I once heard a story about a Yorkshire farmer who had an entire cow covered while the Met were helping out with policing the coal miners strike back in the 80's I remember being given some of these stickers when I was about 7 or 8 years old (1979/80 growing up in South London) when I was at school and the Met Police used to come and do class talks. I also remember some Thames River Police stickers (don't remember the tag line)and British Rail I've been Train Trained stickers...

RAF humour at its best, annoying the "lessers" An old NCO of mine told me he got his "soldier" out in a mess at an army barracks one evening and plopped it on some "stuck up tosser" of an army officer's shoulder...there were a few others who backed him up on the story.

Live by the sword, die by the sword.
The Law is the law after all ...
Personally I think its a complete waste of time to even consider investigating it, but this is what you get in digital law enforcement

Complete waste of time and effort. The Welsh officer that complained needs to grow a sense of humour.

RAF humour at its best, annoying the "lessers" A little team of us used to support our Tornado around airshows, and at Fairford one year we made a 'zap' out an aircraft job card, bought a couple of can of luminous green and orange paint and the zapped everything in sight including the vehicles back at the digs. Turns out one of the vehicles was a MOD plod coach and they had a sense of humour failure and I ended up getting put on a charge and doing jankers! The F3 Tornado display team proudly wore our zap for the rest of the season on the hub cap of it's mini bus. On the Military side of thing zapping stuff is standard practice and cargo bays of Hercules transport planes around the world are covered in them. Our stickers were usually paid for out of the tea bar fund.

This story and the sheer stupidity of investigating this astounds me, but then again having been nailed to the cross myself by PSD for a humour related crime nothing really suprises me.

It's probably because the sticker was not bi-lingual. ( I am only partly joking).

You clearly haven't had "the operation" yet then You need to have your personality removed. I'm sure PSD will have gone some way to ensuring that. Most of the PSD officers have had "the operation". It is a pre-requisite to performing that role.

i know of a submarine crew that painted an image of periscope targeting crosshairs on the back of the T23 frigate i was serving on when we were in dock in Faslane one night.......... officially there was a big uproar, but internally it was seen as a great coup for the submariners, and a good laugh
