The pathology supports the lads version of events. Can only think the Doctor came out looking for a fight for whatever reason. One thing I learned about "your elders" is that many of them think they can get away with anything when dealing with anybody younger than them.

anything could have happened there, no independent witnesses - so no proof
single blows followed by a fall to the ground can and do kill

I suspect that the kid had handed himself into police, and that he had never been in trouble before added to his version too. had it been a known scrote, with a record as long as both his arms, the outcome might have been different.

How would his record be used in evidence?

Tragic as that story is, it sounds to me like the right outcome in the cirucmstances. What little evidence there is, we are told, supports the defendant's claim of self defence.
"Reasonable force" can include lethal force. In the absence of any independent witnesses, it would be impossible to prove what happened and therefore whether the force used in self-defence (assuming that's what happened...) was reasonable.
Justice has to err on the side of caution and find the defendant not guilty if things cannot be proved beyond reasonable doubt. I am glad we live under such a system.

Typical Wail reporting... Seems to be proclaiming guilt based on social standing: youth on pushbike is obviously guilty-as-sin murderous street-urchin, while unmarried devout Catholic professional A Good Egg standing up for his picturesque Wail Utopian village from those evil housing estate lot

‘It’s a terrible shame and awful for Anthony’s family that they will not see justice done.’
Thought this line was very typical.
It seems very common for people to hold the view that justice being done is a judge/jury agreeing with the version of events they want to be true.

We haven't heard the evidence and we can't infer that just because he was a rich surgeon he was not the instigator.

A lot of defence of this lad on here, but ask yourselves what 3 teenagers were doing at this fella's house. Bob a f king job? Troublemaking teenage bullies harassing some old boy who likely 'deserved it' as he lived on his own. If they'd left the poor guy alone, likely he would not be dead now. And this happened at his house, not at the teenage lad's.

Hugo a Gogo said: it says 'near' his house He was found dead next to his own car. I am sure he just hung around his Honda civic chewing on werthers originals and shouting abuse at poor innocent teenagers trying to help old ladies accross the road. He probly had a gang of mates from the olds folks home who went round causing trouble on their wheeled zimmers. I hope the poor waif gets some proper counselling now and maybe a taxpayer funded holiday.

how about 'gets out of his car to remonstrate with BMX youths for whatever reason (go back to your own estate maybe), shoves one of them off his bike, he punches him back'?
just as likely as 'gang of BMX killers stalk innocent old man'

As none of use was there we simply don't know. So all this conjecture is utterly meaningless.
