I am 70% that they'll remove stuff at request for privacy reasons.
I've definitely seen photos missing for this reason.
Unsure what the process for asking them is.

PH gets more like a b hy girls' playground every day. The OP has every right to be annoyed. Would you lot like it if I walked into your front garden and took pictures of your motor and house?

I suspect that the OPs drive shows up a road on many digital maps. As google apparently just send their drivers off down every road to take photos following a sat nav, the driver will do exactly what it tells him unless he finds a gate/sees a sign telling him not to. As such you may want to get on to the people that make digital maps and get them to change it, otherwise you never know how many people are being sent down your drive by sat nav!

I'm getting rather tired of attitudes around here these days. Witness my simple question asking if plod was allowed to hide with a speed gun, which was met with erroneous assumptions that I had been caught and wanted to get off. And so it goes on.

Anyway Ive reported it to Google Earth and we'll see what happens. good luck: google get their map and image data from: Imagery ©2012 DigitalGlobe, GeoEye, Getmapping plc, Infoterra Ltd & Bluesky, The GeoInformation Group, Map data ©2012 Google (thats copied from the bottom of the map area in a browser, next to the report a problem button). You might need to tell all of them before anything slowly changes. Good luck! I have to admit, google now seem to be taking over the world, far more succesfully than Microsoft. MS got an image as the evil ones for running all the computers in the world (well not quite) but google are far more powerful and we seem happy with this....presumably because its free? Apple seem to be loved because they make shiny expensive things so MS just fail by being in the middle :s

I've just looked at a couple of others and they show correctly, it appears Google have amended theirs as it was correct until recently and stopped at the end of the culdesac where it should.

Whenever you represent a minority opinion, more people will disagree with your view than agree with it. That is what you see happening here. It's not 'b hy' it's people being baffled by a view point they don't understand. As has already been said (a lot) you should try asking for the images to be removed. Although they probably already have images of the house in the form of aerial photos and from a near-by road, which they took legally.

As posted above I have requested they be removed and although there are aerial images, there are no roads with direct view hence my preference to keep it private.

1. Nothing wrong with a private drive being shown on any digital map, anymore than there is with the approximate outline of the house on that land, etc.
2. People tend to buy houses with things like long private drives because it offers something called privacy. If there is a sign at the end of the road saying “Private road/drive/land/lane” (as appropriate) then whilst the roadway should be mapped there is no right or reason for the streetview car to drive up it.
Whilst I am not sure I would be too bothered by it I don’t like it when people drive into our shared courtyard at home (happens a couple of times a year that I notice) but I live with the fact there there are a lot of stupid people in the World. If they were to take a load of photos - on my land of my land - and then stick them up on the net I would be freeking furious. Fair play, take as many pics of my house and drive as you like from public land, I have modelled my hedges and so on so that there are parts you can only see if you have access to my land.
