David, my mate just called me to say that because I know lots of stuff about the internet, I can find the answer.
Basically, his car has been blocked in.
Parked on a residential road, people have parked so close to his nose and tail that he can't shift the car.
He thinks it has been done on purpose.
The cars are taxed and appear to be road legal and insured.
It is a crowded road where people do park tight. Apparently the two cars who have blocked him belong to the same house. From what I can gather they have had some falling out. He has been to the owners house who told him the keys for one car are lost, and the others are with someine who is away.
He is kind of stuck.
My guess is he has probably pissed them off in some way, though he denies it.
Any advice, as the council parking bods are no help. Both cars are legally parked they tell him.

Causing unnecessary obstruction which "could" make it a Police matter I suppose but I'm no expert in that area of Policing...,,

jack the back end of the car up on a trolley jack and role it forwards (although, they would probably move the cars before you got as far as actually doing it)

What car does he drive ? And if there that close I would (push) the car in front with my car in first then put it in reverse and (push )the car behind you don't need that much space with power steering to get out you'll find they won't do it again !!

So he can receive a nice increase on his insurance right?

Call the Police, ask them to take a look. It's an obstruction.

The car he has is a quite old punto. The cars causing the obstruction according to checks I have made are a 57 reg Land Cruiser and an 06 Astra.
Surely if they areblocking him in the piolice can force removal?
Keyholder away, keys lost etc, can't be valid excuses.
As I say, it is a street where cars park tightly. Both cars appear taxed insured etc.
My guess is he's done somthing to annoy them. He is a pedant who won't let stuff lie, so I'd not be surprised if e had done something to encourage this.
He has to take the bus to work tomorrow! So he tells me, though he can work from home.
Is shifting the cars against the law.
Surprised the parking bods won't do anything. Apparently if its taxed, isured and with a parking permit' its OK.

An old Punto you say? Set it alight when nobody is looking and claim off his insurance - it's what it is for. Bad luck about the two vehicles parked so close, but it can't be helped... not his fault they couldn't find the keys in time. Don/t tell anyone it was advice from PH - keep that amongst ourselves. Don't forget to video it and put it on YouTube for our future enjoyment. Sorted. Next problem please?

"Help me' I am apparently a legal eagle because of PH", apparently not. Wouldn't it have made more sense to put something in the title about the question? e.g. "Is it legal to use a taxed/insured car to block my mate into a parking space?" Might actually be more likely attract people with a modicum of legal knowledge to your thread?

Tell him to go buy 3 more cars this morning: 2 snotters and something tidy.
Park in the two that have parked his punto in using the snotters (now have a 5-car nose-to-tail fest).
Wave in a happy fashion at the confused gits from the Bentley as you drive past.
Job jobbed.

Perfectly well constructed thread. A "grabber" to get attention, the "grabber" explained when you open the thread leading you into the topic. I understand your point however. Do you have anything to add to the threard re David's Punto problem?

I know where I can lay my hands on one. It parks about half a mile from my house. Take a bit of fuel getting it to my friend's home, but it would be fun to see.

dvd This. You mention that your "friend" (ah, him again!) may have caused some problems in the neighbourhood. If this parking problem is not merely a coincidence, then maybe he needs to enter into reasonable discussions with those who might have grudges against him.

I think you can safely disregard 98% of the b ks on this thread and that will leave you with two options: Contact the Police re obstruction Or Knock on the door and politely attempt to resolve the issue as normal human beings would do before resorting to the option above. Good luck to whoever is in this situation be it you or your friend David.

For "friend" read cousin. A bit of a pedantic knob at times to be honest, but he has helped me out once or twice so he isn't a bad lad.
I"m not involved in it, so don't know what he's done to annoy them.
I have yet to establish whether what they have done is illegal or not.

I have yet to establish whether what they have done is illegal or not. . Do a google search for unnecessary / wilful obstruction and the result will be plain to see.
