Two City of London motorbike, Triumph 500s, broke down during it and did anyone spot the courier who pulled away on the approach to Shoreditch? He probably thought the police were after him. I wonder what model of Triumph 500's were the police using in 1987 The model which splits into two? (Could have sworn it was 1 BMW which popped but I stand willing to be corrected)

Having Derek Smith point out the courier taking off like a stabbed rat, not spotted that before. Very Good, thanks for brining it to attention.

Haven't seen anyone mention it, but if this was the run that regularly crops up on TV it was successful in that the run was made in under the time alloted .

The Interpol was a git for slow escort duties, as at slow speeds they simply shut off the spark on one rotor, and if the pace was just at the cut out/in revs.... embarrassing.

Cheers gents, Norton Interpol 2 by the sound of it. Not sold to the public hence under my biker radar.

GTIR said: Didn't see that. Can you tell me where? About 9 minutes, not long after the "advert break" they come out of the traffic boot it out into relatively open roads and you become aware of a motorcyclist going like hell up ahead and actually leaving them, then about ten seconds later you see the m/biker having a good look over his shoulder to see what all the row was about, then in another ten seconds now slowed right down and over in lane 1 trying to look as inconspicuous as possible. Bet at the time he thought he was kippered. These timings are off the youtube on our Smart TV, picture isn't brilliant but seems to be better than on the laptop. By the way, I'll say nowt about the lead car hacking down the M11 with what looks like the magic lanterns, aka 4 way hazard flashers going. Or were those the rear flashing fogs? Long time since I drove an SD1, but indicators were on outside, rear fogs on inside next to plate iirc. Speaking of hacking down the M11 at warp 11, and completely off topic, what is status of Huhne's prosecution these days?

One of the SD1's still exists today in classic car condition, fully liveried up and functional - plus it appears at various shows / gatherings around the South West and London.

(From that website) Owned by and ex cop. (Not sure if it was one of the cops on the run though) Whilst on a run to a show with three serving offers on board they heard a shout for help from collegues so attended, arresting some crims'! I bet that confused everyone concerned when they pulled up in a SD1.

They keep them all where I work and we see them very often on the move...

Point of order here Madame Chairperson. That line was from Life on Mars, so technically one would need a 1974 Ford Cortina.
