This thread would be much more interesting if the title was 70 in a 60 in an A35
I doubt that an A35 would manage 70 ( other than when being towed ) smile
Where's that icon with the bird in the breeze? biggrin

Whilst the experts are in...

A couple of times I've been driving along, mind elsewhere and I suddenly realise I've not seen a speed sign for a while and people are driving right up behind me. Now, rather than assume I'm doing 30 in a 40 and speed up, I usually carry on safe in the knowledge that if it is a 30 zone, then I won't see a speed sign until it changes unlike 40/50/NSL where there are regular repeats. Am I a) correct in this assumption and b) how long would it be before I can expect to see a repeat sign if it's a 40 say?

Oh, and I don't want to hear any of that "It's a maximum, not a target" nonsense, I actually failed my first bike test for going too slowly - "not progressing in a suitable manner" or some such crap. Turns out the speedo on the girlfriends ageing Z650 was reading 5 mph under and the examiner failed me after 2 cars had overtaken me in apparent frustration. Re-took it a week later and added 5mph to the speedo. Same examiner and I sailed through.

If there is a system of street lighting and no repeaters, its a safe bet that the limit is 30. Where the limit is otherwise, repeaters can usually be expected every 200-250 yards.

WTF are you talking about, I presume people think the word dual means two is because that's exactly what it means as opposed to single or triple. Maybe I'm being thick here, but could you define what the difference between a lane and a carriageway is?
I could not possibly comment smile

You can't do more than one in a three year period.

There aren't normally repeaters in an NSL, though there can be, just as there can be repeaters in a 30 (more common IME).

Street lights + no signs = 30mph
No street lights + no signs = NSL

'No signs' means no repeaters for a reasonable distance; there is a regulation but I don't know what it is. I would hazard a guess that 30 seconds of driving means you should see one.

Is that 30 seconds at 30mph or 30 seconds at 60 mph ? biggrin
